Located on the United Nations Plaza in San Francisco, the City Beat Farmers’ Market (actual name altered) places a vibrant scene of social interactions on a site with rich historic values. This ethnographic study was conducted for an understanding of the existing shortcomings of the farmers’ market and the spatial configuration of the site, which would inform a program redesign that better responds to the unique site and its users.
